The name has been derived from Vedic Rishi 'ATHARVAN' who wrote Atharva ved and was believed to be the inventor of fire in Hindu religion. Prithvi sukt, is the 1st sukt of 12th kaand of Atharvaveda. It contains 63 mantras dedicated to mother Earth.It is astonishing to realize that they are more relevant in today's world.

माता भमिूमिः पत्रुो अहं पथिृथिव्या: पर्जन्र्ज य पि ता स उ न: पि पर्तु ।।

Meaning - : The Earth is our mother and we are her progeny. The sky/cloud is our father and they together nurture us.

Though we definitely need to keep on discovering newer technologies but in the journey, we must take advantage of experience and wisdom of our ancestors.

The world is changing faster than ever before. Global demographic explosion and irrational use of technology is leading us towards an immense environmental crisis which is pollution. Humans are expanding their ecological footprints like never before. We are in the process of seriously degrading our Life support system and heading towards disaster....
